If A Petisqueira represented everything that was right and inspiring about affordable Portuguese cuisine in Macau, António could very well be its opposite: the waiters could be scruffy, the food bland and lacking freshness, and the prices unimaginably extortive. The sardines, compared with those at A Petisqueira two weeks ago, were too salty and a little dry after reheating. The arroz de marisco (seafood rice stew) had very little flavor, possibly because the seafood wasn't particularly flavorful (or fresh -- the crab tasted as if it had been sitting in the freezer for far too long). António's possibly only saving grace was its ambiance -- a cute little space in the style of a Mediterranean sea-side hut. A fine guitarist and singer was on hand to imbue the space with soothing Portuguese memories. That being said, there was very little else to support its "Michelin recommended" moniker. Skip.
